Type A “Farmer”
This type has arisen at transition from the most ancient style lives (hunters) to more settled, agrarian style of life.
37.8 % of population of the Earth – representatives of this blood type. Characteristic lines: constancy, settled way of life, good adaptation to work in collective, organization. At transfusion type A accepts its group and type 0. The type A gives blood only to its type.
- Strengths
Well adapts for diet and environment change;
Immune and digestive systems are effective, if corresponding diet (vegetarian) is observed.
- Weaknesses
Gentle (sensitive) digestive tract;
Weak immune system, opened to all infections;
Hypersensibility of nervous system.

- Dietary recommendations
Diet – full vegetarian.
Vegetables
Dairy products – limited (low-fat cheese, sour-milk products). Replacement – soy products: soy milk (silk), tofu – soy cottage cheese.
Groats: Bean
Fruit (except keen fruit – an orange, tangerine, rhubarb, papaya, bananas, cocoas). Pineapples!
Fish (exclude flounder, halibut, herring, caviar, and also seafood).
Sugar – moderate.
Drinks
Recommended: coffee, green tea, red wine. Juice – carrot, pineapple, grapefruit, cherry. Water with a lemon juice.
Avoid: orange juice, black tea, all soda drinks.
- The program of weight control
Avoid: Meat (little chicken and turkey); dairy products; wheat and its products; pepper (all); ice-cream; sugar; oils – corn and peanut butter.
Helps: vegetable oils – olive, linen, canola; soy products; vegetables; pineapples.
- Vitamins and food additives
Vitamins B, C, E. Calcium, Iron, Zinc, Selenium, Chrome, bifid bacterium. Herbal additives and teas with them: ginseng, astragalus, valerian, hawthorn, thistle.
Limit: vitamin A, better to get B-carotene from nutrition.

- Special recommendations for type A
1. As this type has digestive system which has been adjusted on vegetarianism (i.e. has decreased acidity of gastric juice) it may have serious problems with meat digestion because it requires increased acidity of digestive juice. It is recommended to avoid some meat (admissible some chicken or turkey). It will allow keeping normal weight. For people with this blood type, unlike type 0, meat slows down metabolism and promotes adiposity. The vegetarianism will promote energy addition and protection of organism against diseases – weak immune system suppresses at wrong nutrition.
2. Because of very gentle mucous coat of digestive tract, please avoid: all kinds of a spicy food (all kinds of pepper, vinegar, ketchup (and in general tomatoes), sour fruit and berries, mayo and spices); fermented and salty food (salty fish, herring, cucumbers, cabbage (both salty and fresh, except for broccoli), potatoes. It is good to eat garlic and onion, carrots.
3. Dairy products – limited, better sour-milk and low-fat cheeses, cottage cheese, tofu. Protein source – soy products in all kinds. Eggs are also necessary, as a source of proteins, vitamins and trace substances (Zn, Ca, B, and B-carotene).
4. There are no special recommendations for the program of weight control. Keep to corresponding diet and physical activity. Limit sugar and chocolate.
