Indian diet

As far as dietary nutrition is concerned, Indians get much of their dietary protein from products like fish, lamb, beans, lentils and dairy. Fat in the Indian diet comes basicly from cooking oils and fats, while common starchy carbohydrate foods include rice, and a variety of flours and breads. The Indian diet is rich in fiber, from legumes and vegetables as well as wholegrains.
Indian diet offers consuming of following products:
2-3 fruits (fresh or steamed) during meal, before or after;
Fresh vegetables with light yogurt, cottage cheese, seaweed with soy;
Steamed vegetables for lunch and dinner. Don’t forget about soups – hot and cold ones;
Cereal meals. But don’t misuse with breads, rice, and pasta products;
Three dairy products: butter milk, light yogurt, cottage cheese;
Nuts: almonds, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds, sesame.
Approximate daily menu:
- Breakfast: fresh made fruit or vegetable juice, 1 cup of tea with lemon slice or milk, but no sugar; cereal with fat-free milk.
- Lunch: cucumber salad with light yogurt and sesame seeds, 1 medium plate of white rice with baked beans (2 parts rice 1 part beans) or 5-6 oz of cottage cheese with chopped fruits.
- Dinner: soy salad with tomatoes and mushrooms plus broccoli and cheese with 1 toast or 2 hard boiled eggs with 1 toast; also can be soy steak with veggie salad plus light yogurt and apple juice.
