Dean Ornish – doctor, professor of medicine of University of California in San Francisco, the president and director of scientific research institute of preventive medicine of California. Ornish has not got official education in dietology. However has spent some researches, among a small amount of participants which have glorified the scientist.

Ornish believes that, the person who is keeping to diet, burns 23 calories to transform 100 “over” calories of fibers or carbohydrates to body fat and on the contrary, only 2.5 calories of fat.

Hence, it is necessary to avoid food rich with fats (less than 10 %, but more than 5 % to satisfy requirements of an organism with important fatty acids). Very effective diet.

The resolved products: rich with fiber; fruit, vegetables, rice, soups, salads, dried beans, a low-fat bird, seafood, meat, dairy products.

The forbidden products: with the big content of fat, and also caffeine, alcohol, sugar, salt

The typical menu of a diet

  • Breakfast:
    Cup of fat-free fruit yoghurt, 1 cup of wild strawberry, glass of orange juice, coffee (without caffeine).
  • Dinner:
    1 big baked potato, 3/4 cups of a broccoli, 2 cups of green salad, tomato, an apple.
  • Supper:
    Salad: cup of sprouted wheat, red pepper, string bean, cabbage, lemon juice (1 teaspoon).
